Skoda Kailak: Skoda India’s new compact SUV is proving to be lucky charm for the company. This car has been getting great response since the launch in India. It has also received a 5-star safety rating in the India NCAP crash test, which guarantees its strength and security. The special thing is that it is the cheapest SUV of Skoda, whose ex-showroom price starts at Rs 7.89 lakh. Its sales increased rapidly between January to March 2025 – 1,242 units in January, 3,636 units in February and 5,327 units in March.
Engine and performance
In Kailak, the company has given a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that generates 115hp power. This engine is quite smooth and powerful. It is introduced with both manual and automatic transmission options. However, only 6-speed manual gearbox will be found in the mid-spec signature trim. Skoda claims that Kachalak can catch the speed of 0 to 100 kmph in just 10.5 seconds.
Real world mileage test result
Recently, Carwar has done a real world mileage test of Skoda Kailak AMT (Automatic). In this test, its performance on both the city and the highway was tested:
Mileage in the city: Kailak consumed 8.69 liters of petrol during a 77km visit. According to this, its mileage was around 8.9 kmpl. This mileage was extracted in a position when the average speed of the car was 16–22 kmph.
Mileage on the highway: On the highway, Kailak consumed 6.37 liters of petrol to cover a distance of 79km. During this time its average speed was 57 kmph and the mileage came around 12.4 kmpl. However, the mileage shown on MID was 19.05 kmpl.
From this, it can be gauged that this SUV with a 45 -liter fuel tank can comfortably travel up to 500 km.
